On September 13th, the Montezuma Junior High football team started the season off with a win and a loss against BGM.
The 8th grade was first to take the field. Despite their efforts, the game ended with the final score of 22-0, BGM’s favor.
However, the Braves had some very encouraging moments throughout the match, such as a 30-yard pass play from Brody Mckeag to Travis Lewis.
“I felt like we were in the game the whole time,” said Coach Anderson. “This 8th grade team will continue to work and continue to get better.”
The 7th grade managed to turn things around with a 19-0 win. Three touchdowns by Carson Losure, with one punt return of 48 yards, were a big help in winning.
Additionally, by a group effort, the team was able to keep BGM out of the end zone, further sealing the Braves’ victory.
Coach Anderson said, “We are a little deeper with the 7th grade class, so we can get more kids in and out. It really showed tonight, as our defense was able to make a bunch of big plays throughout the game.”
